Austral Insulation Awarded the Largest Panel Contract

In July Coles Meyer announced an agreement with GPT to develop a $100 million National Distribution Centre at the Austral Business Park, Somerton in Melbourne, Victoria. The Business Park is located on approximately 100 hectares of industrially zoned land and incorporates one of Australia's first fully integrated intermodal rail terminals. This distribution centre will service CM supermarkets in Victoria with temperature controlled produce, dairy, and meat products.

The agreement to construct a 74,700 sqm distribution centre for Coles Meyer was awarded to Qanstruct , who awarded the largest single panel installation in the history of Australia ,worth $9 mill, to Austral Insulation Vic. The Project has commenced with excavations, concrete and steel structures. The panel installation is scheduled to commence in January 2006 and expected to be completed in December 2006.

Gordon Cowie, General Manager Austral Insulation: "This project will be a real challenge with all contractors working to tight deadlines and in windy conditions! Each contract will be close on the heals of the team ahead and there will be no room for delays. This project requires high levels of project management, teamwork and good communication across all contractors."

The Austral Installation team will operate four teams completing the Frozen Chamber and progressing to the Main Chiller Chamber. The Distribution Centre will require approximately 59,000 m2 of installed panel system and over 200 freezer doors.
